She currently serves as the Special Education Senior Manager Elementary Schools Office 3 Area. She oversees 55 schools (Early Childhood to 8th grade) to ensure that students with disabilities receive high-quality core instruction, specialized instruction, and intervention, in accordance with state and federal laws.

She collaborates with school leadership teams in the areas of data analysis, program planning, campus-specific professional development, Better Together PLCs, curriculum and instruction, IEP implementation monitoring and compliance, best practices to build capacity in campus staff to meet the individual needs of students with disabilities. She has been the Summer Coordinator (Champion) for Extended School Year services (ESY) for 5 years. 

Prior to becoming a Senior Manager, she was a Program Specialist Team Lead where she supported over 47 schools including alternative and charter schools.

She has served in several leadership roles such as Gifted/Talented Coordinator, Instructional Coordinator, Intervention Assistive Team Liaison, Life Skills Teacher, Magnet Coordinator, Reading Intervention Specialist, School Improvement Plan, ARD Facilitator, Section 504 Coordinator, Shared Decision-Making Committee Secretary, Special Education Chairperson, Summer School Principal, Title I Coordinator, Volunteers In Public School Coordinator and a Transition Coach.

Deitra Ford-Robinson was selected one of eighteen out of 400 nominees to serve on Houston ISD’s District Advisory Council from 2012-2014.

She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education at Grambling State University. She received her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership at Texas Southern University and was accepted into the doctoral program at Nova Southeastern University. She holds the following certificates: Principal, Facilitator, Special Education K-12, Master Reading Teacher, English as Second Language, and Crisis Prevention Intervention Instructor.
